Pole Portraits: Blackout Edition is a studio experience capturing bold, sculptural images of strength and movement against a pure black background.

This 120-minute group session is structured so each dancer receives three 5-minute shooting rounds, for a total of 15 minutes of camera time. Sessions are limited to a maximum of 6 dancers to keep the experience focused and efficient.

Between rounds, the rotating format gives you space to stretch, reset, refine your movement, change outfits, and draw inspiration from others in the room. Each segment is intentional, allowing you to come back stronger and more dialed in each time you step in.

You will receive 5 professionally edited images, each delivered in both color and black and white through a private online gallery within 3 weeks.

Important Session Details

Some posing guidance will be provided, but it is recommended to come with a few ideas or shapes you would like to explore.

Black outfits can create a more subtle, low-contrast look against the pure black background. Lighter tones or bright colors will stand out more, depending on the style you are going for.

Up to two outfit changes are allowed.

The photographer will select the strongest 5 images from your session, based on composition, lighting, and expression. Each selected image will be professionally retouched, including refinements to lighting and background, along with subtle cleanup such as skin distractions or minor wardrobe issues. Each final image will also be delivered in both color and black and white versions.

Optional prints and wall art can be purchased separately through your online gallery.

Meet the Photographer

I’m Anthony Massie, a Sonoma County–based photographer with over 15 years of professional experience in visual media, including photography, graphic design, and video production. My work focuses on clean, intentional imagery that emphasizes light, form, and authentic expression.

I bring a structured, detail-oriented approach to every shoot while keeping the experience relaxed and collaborative. Whether I’m working with first-time clients or experienced performers, my goal is to create images that feel strong, natural, and distinctly you.

My wife Sam is an avid pole dancer and assists during these sessions, helping with flow, posing, and creating a comfortable, supportive environment in the studio.
